ARTIST BIO
Domenico Bussolin
Domenico Bussolin made his debut into the world of glassmaking upon opening his Murano factory in 1838. His most notable works are his beautiful and highly intricate millefiori and intarsia glass work. While many people at the time admired and complemented Bussolin’s work, his sales were extremely low and ultimately this forced him to close his factory - after just 4 years - in 1842. Two other notable achievements he made to the glass world are his re-emergence of the millefiori technique which had remained a mostly dormant artform for over 2000 years, and his invention of the gas burning torch. Today, Bussolin’s work can be viewed and enjoyed on display at the Museo del Vetro (Murano Glass Museum) and other numerous highly distinguished museums throughout the world.
